The Executive Director-Assisting the President will work from our head office in Guelph, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with and providing direct support to the President and will also work with and assist the senior management team through exceptional organization and adaptability. You will bring a high standard of professionalism, proven leadership, integrity, confidentiality and corporate experience to the firm.


Job Responsibilities

  • Timely and appropriate communication with the President

  • Assist the President in day to day administration and operations

  • Accurately prepare and review legal documents and correspondence

  • Review and interpret contract documents identifying conditions or compliance with legal requirements and work on effective resolutions with the President, Business Development Manager and other Senior team members

  • Oversee corporate travel requirements

  • Assist in benefits administration

  • Work with HR and the Controller, understand and manage WSIB

  • Assist with return to work programs

  • Understand and assist the Health & Safety Supervisor in achieving and maintaining COR

  • Assist with interpreting safety regulations

  • Champion the JHSC

  • Stay up to date on all safety and labour legislative changes, communicate and train where/when necessary and applicable

  • Lead by example, assist in setting the standard for professional behaviour and work habits that support a positive performance-based environment

  • Assist sales and marketing in promoting and building the profile and market presence of the corporation

  • On behalf of and in conjunction with the President, be involved working with marketing on the planning and implementing of special events

  • Participate in social club initiatives – offer both assistance and leadership


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

  • 10 years in a progressively senior executive or executive support role

  • 3-5 years of experience working in the construction industry necessary

  • Post-Secondary education - a business degree preferably an MBA with a focus on corporate      and/or construction law and contracts

  • Seasoned written and oral communication skills with innate ability to comprehend complex issues and present information concisely

  • Sound knowledge of WSIB legislation

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of Sage and/or Procore considered an asset

  • Proven track-record of leadership and team work

  • High level of confidentiality, sound judgement, diplomacy and understanding

  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines

  • Strong detail orientation, proactive approach, and follow up skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Flexible and proficient at managing high work volumes and rapidly changing priorities

  • Strategic thinker

  • Personal vigour and capacity to meet the demands of this position

  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and a clear driver’s abstract

  • Based in Guelph, Ontario, limited travel will be required
