We are seeking a seasoned Assistant Site Superintendent required for a project located in Welland, ON. 


We are seeking someone with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in this field, preferably with a minimum $5 million project value. The Assistant Site Superintendent helps coordinate all site construction activities and supervise all field personnel as required to successfully complete the project on schedule and within budget. This includes maintaining the highest quality, supervising all trade and field personnel, while administering good construction safety and quality control practices with all on–site activities. Layout and surveying of the building will be a big part of the role of this person and candidates will require a high level of layout experience and proficient skills in this area. This position reports to the Site Superintendent.


Qualifications:

  • Organization: Very organized with systematic approach task to achieve accuracy and efficiency

  • Communication: Displays strong written and oral communication skills and employs effect listening skills

  • Problem Solving: analyzes problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risk, implications, and cost

  • Interpersonal Skills: Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with and manage diverse personalities while being a team player

  • Highly Motivated: self-starting, highly motivated and goal oriented individual with the ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency in reading drawings – Structural, Architectural, Civil

  • Proficiency in surveying and layout of buildings and all associated parts

  • Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, building materials, and required standards applicable to discipline

  • Excellent attention to detail with emphasis placed on quality

  • Experience in a range of survey techniques and equipment

  • Professionally and technically competent

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent combinations of technical training plus commercial construction experience.

  • Knowledge of Procore considered an asset

  • Valid driver’s license required


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe working site meeting all company and MOL standards

  • Perform carpentry tasks on site and lead site team by example

  • Assist the Site Superintendent in coordinating and supervising all construction activities

  • Assist in directing all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that confirms to original plans and specifications

  • Communicate the project plans, blueprints and specifications

  • Assist in preplanning all construction activities in order to seamlessly follow the project construction schedule

  • Assist in planning, coordinating and conducting bi-weekly subcontractor progress meetings including recording and distributing meeting minutes

  • Maintain a positive and respectful relationships with owners, engineers, architects, subcontractors, suppliers and other employees

  • Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately

  • Maintain an organized job site

  • Perform and maintain all site and building layout


Location:

Welland, Ontario


Hours: 44 hours per week, as required by site
