We continue to expand and have an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician.


The Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Mechanic will work with the Maintenance Manager and all divisions within the company to repair breakdowns, conduct preventive maintenance, and provide heavy equipment support to all teams. The technician will often work with heavy duty construction equipment and industrial concrete and steel manufacturing equipment and will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing all site and heavy equipment. If you are highly competent in most areas, we will provide the necessary training to bring you up to speed in other areas.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain all site equipment and machinery

  • Mentor and coach apprentices and operators

  • schedule the delivery and availability of site equipment around maintenance schedules

  • Read diagrams and schematic drawing to determine work procedures

  • Ability to work with windows based computer system

  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the installation, set up and repair of machinery

  • Inspect and examine large and small construction machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions

  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts

  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment including drives, PLC’s would be an asset

  • Maintain a high level of organization for maintenance reports and PM schedules

  • Regular routine preventative maintenance as required


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

  • Must have at least 5+ years experience in a heavy equipment technician or similar role

  • Must be a certified 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

  • Technical experience considered an asset, apprentices welcome to apply

  • Must have a proven mechanical aptitude and experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, various engines types and motors, and industrial machine controls

  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and schematics

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. (abstract will be required)

  • Must be computer literate and have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including Project and Excel

  • Experience with CMMS systems considered an asset

  • Must be able to obtain required security clearance when necessary

  • Must be physically fit

  • Must have excellent communication, both verbal and written

  • Must be a team player, but can work independently

  • Upon occasion must be available to travel
