Kiwi Newton Construction completed this 16,000sm retrofit of an existing industrial facility. Previously used as an assembly plant for Sky Jack, Kiwi Newton Construction was involved at the very beginning by providing engineering and design expertise. We designed the finished facility based on in-depth discussions with the client to determine their exact requirements as they pertained to the size of cranes and the crane loads. Construction included removal of the existing paint line to make way for assembly of windmill component parts. Scope of work included strengthening of the crane columns and installation of the beams. Because of Kiwi Newton’s understanding of the client’s requirements, we were able to determine that strengthening of the crane columns was more cost effective than completely replacing them. This was done by our own work force. A Quality Assurance Lab was also constructed with a variance of only +/- .5 degrees Celsius for high precision measurements. Kiwi Newton installed 8 machine foundations and crane rails and cranes. Construction also included offices, training rooms, tool crib, shipping office and chip bin shelter.
