Responsibilities
- Create Shop Drawings, BIM, and CNC Files
Develop detailed shop drawings, BIM models, and CNC files (for erection, assembly, and parts) for in-house production, aligning with project schedules set by project managers and supervised by the engineer of record. - Develop Standards and Procedures
Contribute to creating company detailing standards, typical system details/families, and documentation for procedures. - Architectural and Structural Precast Detailing
Detail architectural and structural precast concrete members, integrating all trades and disciplines (structural, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and building envelope) for a comprehensive, panelized product. - Steel and Metal Element Detailing
Produce details for structural steel and miscellaneous metal elements for fabrication. - Precast and Steel Building Layouts
Prepare precast and steel building layouts with input from structural and architectural contract drawings. - Detailing Requirements Planning and Scheduling
Plan and schedule detailing requirements across multiple projects. - Manage Subcontracted Detailers
Oversee and coordinate with subcontracted detailers as required. - Drawing Storage System Management
Manage and innovate procedures for the drawing storage system. - Develop Innovative Drawing Techniques
Create innovative methods to include additional dimensions in shop drawings and BIM, such as logistics, shipping, costs, scheduling, and progress, for use by various departments. - Participate in Part Production Reviews
Conduct part production reviews at the plant and occasionally on-site.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- Educational Background
Post-secondary education in engineering or an engineering technology program. - Industry Experience
Experience in structural steel detailing or concrete/precast detailing is required. Experience with architectural, mechanical, or electrical systems detailing is an asset. - Software Proficiency
Proficiency with Tekla Structures, Revit, or other drafting/detailing software is required. - Systems Thinking and Optimization
A keen mindset for optimization and systems thinking to support vertical integration across the company. - Accuracy and Attention to Detail
Ability to produce work efficiently while upholding accuracy and quality. - Manufacturing and Prefabrication Experience
Prior experience with manufacturing and prefabrication is preferred.
