Position Overview
The Project Engineer will report to the Vice President, Design & Engineering. This role involves close collaboration with our multidisciplinary engineering team, and strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with clients, consultants, and various internal departments.
Requirements
- Structural Analysis and Design
Conduct structural engineering analysis and design for ICI construction projects, acting as the structural engineer of record. - Design Leadership
Serve as the design lead on design-build projects, managing coordination with other consultants, including architectural, mechanical, electrical, and building science experts. - Kiwi Newton Systems Integration
Apply Kiwi Newton’s steel and precast building systems details to project designs, providing ongoing feedback to systems engineers to enhance and optimize products. - Independent and Team Collaboration
Work independently and in collaboration with team members, as project needs dictate. - Project Documentation and Standards Compliance
Prepare project plans, specifications, and designs that align with established codes and standards. - BIM and Detailing Management
Oversee BIM technologists and detailers in the preparation of project drawings. - Client and Project Meetings
Participate in regular client meetings, as well as design and construction progress meetings. - Contract Administration and Inspections
Administer contracts throughout the construction phase, performing regular inspections at production facilities and on-site. - Collaboration with Project Managers
Consult and work closely with construction project managers to ensure project deadlines and budget goals are achieved.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
- Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably with a structural focus. - Professional Credentials
Licensed professional engineer with 5-10 years of engineering experience in the ICI construction sector, including experience as the structural engineer of record. - Initiative and Problem Solving
Self-starter with the ability to set and manage multiple priorities effectively, adept at resolving complex assignments independently. - Communication and Organizational Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent organizational and analytical abilities. - Technical Expertise
Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software, with required knowledge in steel and concrete design. Experience with BIM and drafting software is an asset, as is project management experience.
