Kiwi Newton is honoured to be this year’s recipient of the Economic Development award. As stated by Guelph Today, “The Economic Development award recognizes individuals or groups who have significantly enhanced the economic prosperity of the community through impactful contributions.”
This award, sponsored by Invest in Guelph, comes at an exciting time for Kiwi Newton with our new office and plant expansion underway. Kiwi worked with Invest in Guelph to help secure a $2.6 million interest-free loan from the Province of Ontario through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund to support our $17.6 million company-led investment in our new Guelph site expansion.
Our expansions include a brand-new office and a plant expansion. While these are separate projects, they are occurring simultaneously and are both part of our efforts to scale the business. We are expanding our project capacity and building a strong, motivated team that can deliver on our potential.
The new office will serve as a showpiece of our work, showcasing different finishes, cladding, and balcony options of the Kiwi Precast System. Prospective clients can visit our new office and envision what their project could look like. Furthermore, we want to provide our team with an inspiring environment to work in and attract top talent to fill high-value jobs.
The investment in the plant expansion will go towards funding a new two-storey factory space to increase our project capacity, equipment purchases, and process improvements, which will speed up the pace of building in the factory and improve our ability to ensure precision and quality in manufacturing. These investments into our growth are helping transform construction from a purely site-based activity into a manufacturing-driven industry. By bringing more design, engineering, fabrication, and assembly under one roof in Guelph, we are creating high-value jobs and improving productivity.
