Newton Group Ltd. held its Safety Symposium at the Frank Hasenfratz Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing on Friday, February 8th.
The purpose of the Safety Symposium was to clearly communicate the importance of workplace safety to allow employees to perform cohesively and reduce accidents and issues. This year we welcomed Daniel Wong from WeirFoulds as the guest speaker for the event.
Daniel shared several stories about violence and harassment, the key takeaway from the discussion was that everyone has a role in keeping conditions safe. We featured the Jersey of Courage from the League of Champions, and asked all attendees to sign their name. The League of Champions’ goal in partnership with MySafeWork is to promote a safety culture and build awareness in the industry. Newton Group Ltd. & Kiwi Constructors Ltd. & our workers facilitate safety changes in the work places and across industries. By signing the Jersey of Courage we pledge to oppose unsafe work. We also awarded two individuals who have been recognized for their exceptional efforts to promote safety at Newton Group.
Congratulations to the recipients of the 2018 Safety Awards: John Endicott and Travis Craine. These individuals have gone above and beyond to foster a culture of health and safety in the workplace. We are proud of both winners! To conclude our event, our very own President, Ed Newton spoke about his personal journey and the expectations of the organization going forward. He also shared some of Newton Group’s most notable projects. Check out the photos from our event!
