Qualifications

  • Certification
    Certificate of Qualification, certificate in a related field, or equivalent work experience (carpentry preferred).
  • Experience
    Three (3) years of experience, ideally in ICI construction.
  • Technical Skills
    • Proficient in reading concrete/precast erection drawings.
    • Skilled in cutting, bending, and securing rebar and molds.
    • Experienced in building concrete forms for various construction projects.
    • Familiar with reading part lists and identifying assembly parts.
    • Proficient in using power and hand tools safely and effectively.
    • Strong adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Work Requirements
    • Ability to perform tasks independently with minimal direction.
    • Comfortable working at heights, overtime, and occasional Saturdays.
    • Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Material Handling
    Work with materials such as wood, concrete, and steel.
  • Formwork and Structural Assembly
    Build concrete forms for various construction projects and work at heights as needed.
  • Measurement and Estimation
    Estimate dimensions, including height, width, and length.
  • Blueprint and Instruction Interpretation
    Work from blueprints or supervisor instructions to ensure accuracy.
  • Tool Usage
    Utilize tools such as chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders for repair and structural erection.
  • Joining and Fastening
    Join materials securely using nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
  • Quality Assurance
    Check work for compliance with codes and specifications, using levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure accuracy and security.

Work Details

  • Location: Kiwi Newton Ltd., 41 Massey Road, Guelph, ON Canada N1H 7M6
  • Wage: $25.00 – $32.00 (reviewed annually per company policy)
  • Hours: 44 hours per week, with overtime as needed
  • Overtime: Paid at time and one-half after 88 hours biweekly
