Linamar Corporate Headquarters
Kiwi Newton Construction was entrusted with building Linamar Corporation’s new corporate headquarters. This 27,000sf neo classical style high end office building was constructed on land owned by Linamar in Guelph, Ontario. The project involved budgeting and planning by Kiwi Newton, including the demolition of an old industrial building on the site. The site planning and conceptual design was in conjunction with the owner’s chosen architect Roth Knibb Architects of Toronto. Roth Knibb specializes in period style buildings and has collaborated with Kiwi Newton on previous projects. When the functional program was finalized and site planned, Roth Knibb continued with a detailed design which was ultimately built by Kiwi Newton Construction. This two storey building features a very high degree of quality and unique features such as open mezzanine with a skylight dome, cut stone with traditional plinth, architraves, capitals and crown mold detailing on the exterior, a high pitch solid copper roof and intricate elegant finishing details. Millwork included cabinetry throughout with custom made furnishings in the interior in keeping with a traditional building of this period. The building today is a landmark located at 287 Speedvale Avenue in Guelph Ontario. In addition to the office functions, a research & development department is incorporated into the design and is housed in the basement with the addition of international IT networks for the corporation.
