We are just over one week away until construction is set to begin on the Wilson Street Parkade in Downtown Guelph!
As of 4pm on Sunday, February 4th, the existing parking lot on Wilson Street will be closed as we work with the City to prepare for construction. The new parkade will provide 496 parking spaces, adding an additional 414 spots to the downtown core. You can also expect the new parkade to include bicycle parking, charging stations for electric vehicles and elevator access. This is the first parkade to be built in Guelph in 30 years and we are so excited to be a part of it!
Kiwi Newton was awarded the contract to Design-Build the new parkade. The project also included the demolition of the pedestrian bridge over Norfolk Street, replacing it with the new Veterans Memorial Bridge, manufactured and installed by Newton Group. The contract includes all of the work includes electrical, mechanical, landscaping and more to complete the parkade.
The Wilson Street Parkade is expected to be completed by the end of Summer 2019. Until then, enjoy free parking in the existing Wilson Street lot on Saturday, February 3rd and Sunday, February 4th, 2018. All businesses on Wilson Street will remain open during construction.
