Newton Group Ltd. is excited to announce that the Humber College Parking Structure has been named this years “Most Distinguished Project” from the American Galvanizers Association (AGA). A panel of Architects and Engineers assessed all of the projects submitted for the “2020 Excellence in Hot-Dip Galvanizing Awards” with the Humber College Structure receiving the highest honour!

The seven-storey structure which houses 1,000 parking spaces, was built with Newton Group Ltd.’s CANADACAR Parking Structure Building System. This system is an engineered and prefabricated approach which uses hot-dipped galvanized steel columns and beams to support a specialized precast concrete panel.

No Future Maintenance, which hot-dip galvanizing can provide due to its durability, is what sold the college. When a parking garage is built in a high-traffic area such as a college campus, it is nearly impossible to find a time to shut it down for repairs, especially when it can be avoided.
