Project Engineer, Structural

We continue to expand and have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer.


The Project Engineer reports to the Vice President, Design & Engineering. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our experienced engineering team across many disciplines and should have strong communication skills in order to liaise with other departments, clients and outside consultants and partners.


Requirements:

  • Perform structural engineering analysis and design for ICI construction projects and act as structural engineer of record

  • Act as design lead on design-build projects to manage and coordinate with other consultants (architectural, mechanical, electrical, building science, etc.)

  • Apply Kiwi Newton Group steel and precast building systems typical details to project designs and provide feedback to systems engineers to constantly optimize and improve our products

  • Work independently and with other team members, as required

  • Prepare plans, specs and designs in accordance with established codes and standards

  • Manage BIM technologists and detailers with respect to project drawings

  • Participate in regular client, design and construction progress meetings

  • Provide contract administration throughout the construction process and perform regular inspections in production facilities and on site

  • Consult and collaborate with construction project managers to ensure project deliverable deadlines are met and within budget


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in engineering, preferably structural specialization

  • Licenced professional engineer

  • 5-10 years engineering experience in ICI construction industry and experience acting as structural engineer of record for projects

  • A self-starter with the ability to set and handle multiple priorities

  • Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues

  • Excellent communications skills both written and oral

  • Possess excellent organizational and analytical skills

  • Experience with engineering design and analysis software required

  • Knowledge of steel and concrete design required

  • BIM and drafting experience considered an asset

  • Project management experience considered an asset
