Welder Fitter

Location: Guelph, Ontario
Full-time, Permanent

Qualifications

  • Experience
    Minimum of three years of experience in steel welding and/or fitting.
  • Certification
    Current CWB FCAW and GMAW Flat ticket required.
  • Blueprint and Specification Interpretation
    Ability to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawings, specifications, manuals, and processes.
  • Tools and Equipment
    • Must have personal layout tools and welding gear.
    • Proficient in using standard shop tools and equipment such as grinders, band saws, OAC torches, ironworkers, drill presses, etc.
  • Additional Certifications
    Forklift and Overhead Crane certifications are considered assets.
  • Health and Safety Compliance
    Strict adherence to all health and safety codes and regulations.
  • Teamwork and Independence
    Ability to work independently under general direction and willingness to collaborate in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Welding and Fitting
    Weld and fit structural steel per project specifications.
  • Blueprint and Instruction Compliance
    Interpret blueprints and supervisor instructions to ensure precision.
  • Assembly Preparation
    Prepare parts for structural assemblies using metal processing equipment.
  • Layout and Securing of Assemblies
    Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using tools like straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
  • Material Handling
    Sling assemblies, operate shop crane and forklift, and move materials as per process.
  • Other Duties
    Perform additional duties as requested by the department manager.

Work Details

  • Location: Kiwi Newton Ltd., 41 Massey Road, Guelph, ON, with work in Southern Ontario as required
  • Wage: $22.00 – $28.00 (dependent on experience; reviewed annually per company policy)
  • Hours: 44 hours per week, plus overtime
  • Overtime: Paid at time and one-half after 88 hours biweekly
